The Exoskeletal Junction thumbnail
The Exoskeletal Junction Rich and flowing chamber folk here with some beautiful melodies and arrangements. It drops a couple of times when the clearly budgeted production gets in the way, particularly when there are large numbers of instruments playing as well as some weirdly executed harmonies, but for the most part, this is really quite wonderful. “Myra” has a really fantastic melody, and many of these songs could be incredible with better production - I have big hopes for this man in the future. Favorite track: Myra.

Lebanon 03:35
I sat down under the shade of a tree: a cedar; I didn't know, they're all the same to me. I lay down by the banks of a river to plead her Not to swim too deep. I came out just to show her the garden, the fountain; I didn't know she'd seen it all before. I came dome from the foot of a hill, a mountain: The highest you ever saw. I let go, cleansed myself in the freedom she'd granted; I've since learnt the false promise of a kiss, But I returned, fresh-faced, fooling myself; enchanted By the witchcraft in her lips. I flew far; ran the Maronite road, and dishonest, Vowed to myself I'd finally closed that door; Still ajar. I set up camp in this wood, this forest: My home forever more.

Disguise 06:20
She sits unaware that the world is crumbling down. She stands, someone speaks, but she cannot make a sound. She knows it's a trap, but she runs right into its arms; She knows how to stop, but she doesn't keep herself from harm. 'Cause he's the devil in disguise, It's a nightmare, she can't wake; And you can see it in her eyes, She knows she's making a mistake, 'Cause he won't give, only take, So for goodness sake, just stay away; Just stay away. She keeps all her secrets in a basket full of shells, But it's not her heart, but her soul she sells. She falls for a trick written in a story book From when she was young: open up and take a look. She knows it's a trap, but she doesn't stop.

Marionette 02:56
I guess I'm wrong, again, About the ins and outs and details of the fall of men, I thought we'd learnt our lesson long ago; I guess I'm torn, again, Between the wrongs and rights and lefts, Just like the sword and the pen, Neither's as mighty or as sharp as any tongue. Let it be known that I'm not gonna roll over Or be subject to the whims of a puppeteer; Let it be clear that I'm not gonna trip and fall Or be strung up on your wall just like a marionette. I guess I tried too hard To fight the ifs and buts to find what lay beneath the facade, I thought I'd learnt my lesson long ago. Now I guess I'm tired of this tale, Of all the twists and turns, false glory in the search for the Grail, It's not as mighty or as prized as many think. But let it be known that I'm not gonna roll over Or be subject to the whims of a puppeteer; Let it be clear that I'm not gonna trip and fall Or be strung up on your wall just like a marionette.

Myra 05:13
And another thing, I didn't think you'd seal the deal, Sign in plain sight: The dotted line and satanic seal, Just one more thing, You never explained your actions to me, Oh, why so quiet? A fish out of water returned to the sea, But you couldn't stand in a foreign land, The water's clearer on the other side of the sand, But it doesn't make sense where you pitched your tents, The grass is greener on the other side of the fence. But I won't let it rain on me, Never let it find my head, I won't let you stay in my bed If this is how you thank me for it, No, so maybe I'm intense, But no one leaps to your defence When you're caught in the act of a Faustian pact. Yet another thing: You know you swapped a flower for a weed? So I'll spit on the ground Where I let you spill your chosen seen, Oh, let it burn me down, And I won't see the light of day Or turn around, Recite the words I used to say, But this immortal kiss, is it worth the risk? As you flirt with disaster on the precipice; But you don't even flinch as you near the edge And you dance with a demon on the narrowest ledge. But I won't let it rain on me, Never let it find my head, I won't let you stay in my bed If this is how you thank me for it, No, so maybe I'm intense, But no one leaps to your defence When you're caught in the act of a Faustian pact. And the jury hang on your words And they take them as read, Oh, but that's not what I heard And that's not what anyone said, But they're taken in by your penitence of sin, But it's not what they think, No it's not what they think at all. *** And Myra sits on the mezzanine level, Her shoes untied and appearance dishevelled, Her message etched on the Vatican wall, Of a tale well told, a disobedient fall; And Myra lies on the Sistine scaffold, Face down in the dust, both drowsy and dappled, Her warning clawed on the wall of the chapel, Of the joyful slaughter of the purest apple; And Myra shivers in the face of the cold, Insecure in the knowledge of a soul well sold.

I drew up a list of things I wanted to do; Made a purposeful emission, I won't say goodbye to you. The crowds will flock, to your feigned shock, but I'm not joining the queue; I've seen it all, you know the drill, I've been there too. I drew up a list of things I wanted to say, But I'm too polite, too shy and too sober today; I'll leave it for now, I may not have another suitable chance, And so I'll let the music fade on our last dance. And something tells me you're not coming back. To me it's blue, but your night sky is black. So pastures new, it's time you moved on, but you know We'll be fine when you're gone, We'll be fine when you're gone. I wrote a note to myself of all my hopes, dreams and fears; I put it high upon a shelf, it's been there seventeen years, Behind a book chronicling the seven wonders of the world, You should take a look... And when you go, don't think of us, the mere mortals on the ground, But sow your kisses and sell your flowers to a more meritorious crowd That bathe in wine and bask in light: the world's your oyster and you're the pearl, And we're not worthy of the view of you, you, you: The eight wonder of the world.
